People! i went to the zoo and sudenly i realized i lost all my enthusiasm to see the animals as when i was a kid...i mean i almost cried when i saw an austriche in a small cage and tigers and bears closed in so small cages, ok they were feeded and they looked good and healthy but they were stressed and with so sad eyes, i dont know what to think of this...they are procteted but NOT happy, so i only think that animlas are perfect in nature,i dare you all to say something about this and thank you for answers

I was just thinking about that the other night, but about Orcas a.k.a killer whales! I was watching a show on Animal Planet and Jeff Corwin was following whales in nature but then they started talking about the ones that are in captivity and I was thinking how can they be happy swimming around in that little pool they call home. They should be out in the oceans swimming around, not in some little cement pond! Yes I love to go to the zoo and see all of the animals but I also think that it would be so much neater to go and see them in their natural habitat. And I also understand that some of the animals that are in captivity are endangered species but couldn't they find a better way to have them there! Why can't all those celebrities out there who are supporters of PETA donate a million to a zoo of their choice so these animals could have bigger homes and maybe live happier lives.
i thnk nothing is wrong with u ... it's normal cos u r not kid now...
In my opinion there are good zoos and then there are bad zoos. It sounds like the one you went to was a bad zoo. I only frequent zoos that use habitats, not cages. The purpose of a zoo is preserve endangered species and to educate the public. If the aren't accomplishing that goal then they don't deserve your money.
Yea your right!
and its not fair to the animals because they cant tell us how they feel..
its sad seeing animals soo sad.. like i did a project on animal testing.. its the sadist thing ever..
fortunately, lately zoos only take animals that have been abused/sick/abandoned/orphaned... it's very rare they get an animal just to "have" it. it IS wrong to keep a healthy wild animal in captivity, though. you're right.
if animals are going to be in zoos there enclosers must be huge!!
as a child you probably thought animals should be kept in cages ,like i did ,when you grow up you realize that an animals natural habitat is in the wild where they belong and it then feels wrong to you.
wild animals should not be caged up they should be in the wild, they get stressed being caged up,and there sad looking eyes you saw were probably, along the lines of i don't want to be in here i want to be free
If the animals are endangered and they can only survive on zoo then there is no other option, but the zoo should make maximum efforts to simulate their natual habitat and give then lots of room, and a place to hide from gawping guests.
Although I do enjoy going to the zoo (the zoo I go to has very good quality enclosures and the animals have a very high quality of life) I think, unless they are endangered like I said above, animals are better left in the wild where they belong, not in a cage so people can stare at them.
Yes, I understand where you're coming from; as a child, I loved the zoo. I do think that the positive side to zoos is that when they have exhibits of endangered animals, it is educational for people who can see them up close (perhaps their only chance to ever see certain animals) and learn about them and by doing that, gain an understanding of what is happening to their natural habitats through building, poaching and other dangers.
Yup, I'd have to agree with you. I would rather wild animals be in their natural habitats than in the zoo.
