Actually some of the largest puppy mills are run by the Pennsylvania Dutch... Puppy mills aren't just a foreign thing and neither is using euthanized pets for dog food. Animals which succumb to one of the 4 D's; dead, diseased, dying or disabled and are euthanized often end up in pet foods. Especially those which labels only describe their meat ingredients as being "animal protein."
Also, please don't view PETA as a righteous group. While much of what they do helps animals if they had their way, there would be no domestic animals at all and many of their tactics can be considered "terrorism."
They even kill animals too... Visit this link...

This stuff isn't a secret or lies, it is court information complied from a trial against PETA and its members...
of course there are people out there trying to stop it. PETA is just an extremer group than the SPCA. they usually protest and sometimes go to extremes to stop these acts
i feel the exact same way.i cant even look at those pictures though because i know that i would never be able to get those images out of my mind..it is so incredibly sad to me
i know it is terrible!! people just need to be educated about these things. also, shark fin soup... have you heard or seen what they do to sharks? its horrible. just educated people about adopting shelter pets, not wearing any type of fur, and support humane animal societies, and Peta. thanks for being a supporter!
Of course! I think real fur coats is now cruel, cuz it was okay for cavemen and all, but not to show off, that is a waste. And then there is make-up testing on animals! it's horrible!
I completely agree with you. I'm not sure exactly what other people are doing, but I know that the organizations that you mentioned try to spread the word about it to stop it. If you haven't already, you can join the online communities of those organizations by going to their websites and signing up. They send out emails informing you of current issues and giving you links where you can sign petitions, send letters to government officials, and take a stand on what you believe. Thanks for caring--I don't understand why more people don't.
I hope these animal welfare groups r doing something about the atrocities done to animals. I donate whatever money I can to several organizations as they r not funded thru the govt. but by private donations. Animal welfare, like The Humane Society of the United States has no authority to ban the slaughter of dogs and cats in foreign countries, at best, they can protest to that countries leaders. Here in the states we can write to our senators and protest the animal abuses that keep occurring, dog fighting, lab testing , inhumane slaughter of food animals, etc. All good deeds done by the ASPCA, Peta, HSUS costs money to operate, so donations and letter writing to our lawmakers r about all one can do. If enough people would get involved to make their voices heard, then and only then will some of these horrors stop.
