Are pitbulls alow in apartaments?

hi i live in maryland i mabout to buy a dog today but im not sure if im alow to have a pitbull in my apartament maryland-elkgride
Answers:
In my country yes...
get something else
does anyone else have one in your building
You have to talk to your landlord and the association of the apartment complex/building. There is no answer that is universal to all people, or to the people in the state of Maryland.
Probably Not.
Don't you think it would be a good idea to ask the
building owner?
ok it depends with the owner of the apartments cheack with them before purshsing a pet ! good luck
It depends on your landlord. I wouldn't recommend getting a pitbull for an apartment, though. They need room to run and play. You would be giving one unlucky dog a very depressing life if you kept it in an apartment.
you need to ask your land lord, and you should also check your insurance because sometimes with pitbulls they believer you are at a higher risk.
ask your landlord if there is a restriction on the breeds and go from there
It all depends if you are renting. I pretty sure if it's okay with your landlord than you can have one!
I live in an apartment with two dogs and everywhere that I had looked had restrictions on dog breeds and that type of dog is not allowed. Look around, you might find a place that takes them.
I know there are so-callled 'good' pits, but why on earth wold you want such a controversial animal?
Most apts./landlords will not rent.
Insurance agencies willl not cover you, UNless you have very high deductible if that.
WHY BUY?!
GO adopt a companion form you local shelter!
Some even give 'rebates' for the spay or neutering.
Depends on the apartment.
I don't allow dogs.
Dogs stink... it costs too much to clean the stink out of the place when the dog owner moves out. And the dog owner always complains about the cleaning fees comming out of their deposit.
I know you can't smell your dog... you are used to it.
IF I CAN SMELL IT... I'M CALLING IN THE CARPET STEAM CLEANERS AND A CLEANING CREW TO SCRUB THE WALLS. $350. DEAL WITH IT.
in some states its illegal to own a pitbull. you have to get spacial permission. you could check with ur land lord or something. I don't think u are. all are different.
my landlord doesn't allow pitbulls in his apartments. it has something to do with his insurance. i'd check with your landlord first.

Are people superior to animals?

it appears that some nutjobs on here believe people and animals are equal.
Answers:
Well I think we are superior to animals we are smarter and can do things that dogs can't do.
people are Animals - mammals in fact.. actually we are primates...
as such we are not superior or inferior... just different...
some would say we are inferior because we have altered our environment and stuff rather than lived with it.. that we are unable to survive without stupid stuff like cars and cell phones which proves that we are inferior to animals like deer and worms who can live without that junk quite well..
well, in my opinion, life is life. whether you kill a dog or you kill my neighbor, its the same. Animals feel, think, have the capacity to suffer and feel pain, and clearly have the capacity for language. It would take a nutjob to deny that. And some animals, like chimpanzees have even learned sign language and passed it on to their young. And don't forget that people are animals too. it is clear that people "run the world" build cities, effect the environment, etc. but still. I think that saying that people are superior to other animals is just a sad excuse for very sadistic people to perform unnecessary "medical experiments" there are other types of experiments that don't involve the death of many. The animals of the world exist for their own reasons. They were not made for humans any more than black people were made for white, or women created for men. I, personally believe in evolution, and I feel that everything that we are capable of: language, emotion, etc. originated from them. we inherited it from them. I really don't care what you believe, as long as you dont use your beliefs as an excuse for the exploitation of innocent animals.
Our intelligence level is superior to animals. We have laws; animals have pecking order. We can build things and actually carry on conversations whereas animals make noises as warnings or other simple emotions but do not converse. Our bodies are just as complex and how it functions is basically the same. I would definitely say that the human race is superior to animals. We've actually made them/bred them to be how we want (many newer breeds of dogs). On occasion you may find a bird with the IQ of a 5-year-old or a chimp that understands sign language, but intellectually we have advanced.
Also bugs fall under the category of animals or in Kingdom Animalia if you'd rather. Hmm...
True we are damaging the earth. Let's hope we can fix what we've done...
The shortest way to describe this is Natural Selection.Look it up if you don't higher than a 6th grade education. now the long one:
in what way? overall I would say we humans are superior considering we are sentient and developed civilization. With the assisstance of our technology we can do almost everything an animal can do only better.I believe our lives are more important than their's.except for a few very intelligent animals, most animals are virtually robots. They were put on this earth for a purpose, and they will do everything in their power to fulfill this purpose. They are unconcerned with themselves .Some do have emotions, however the vast majority's levels of emotion and thought compared to ours is like comparing a firecracker and an atom bomb.Ultimately it isn't really a question of superiority.I'm assuming you asked this in response to the animal rights idiots around here.To simplify it,they are not doing their part in nature.Humans are nothing but very very very advanced monkeys. We are supposed to protect and take care of our own kind and ensure we survive. The PETA morons are not doing that. They are placing animals above themselves and others. In the less "civilized" world of animals, they would be considered useless to the herd/group and become abandoned and most likely die shortly after. they are obstacles in the circle of life. and a last comment:If killing a few hundred lab animals for tests can save the lives of millions of people Then I'm totally fine with that.
We may have the mental advantage over animals but I don't know if we're "better." Humans kill each other for absolutely no reason. We are knowingly doing things that will destroy our planet. Animals only do what what they need to do to survive, which keeps nature in balance.
How could anyone honestly think we are superior to the "lower" animals? We are considered by many scientists to be the most destructive animal on the planet, and have caused many other species to become extinct by our actions, the latest being the Yangtze river dolphin.
We try to change our environment to suit us instead of living with it. a perfect example is the many hundreds of people that have moved to desert areas like Arizona and New Mexico because of breathing problems associated with some plants / pollens in their previous areas. What is the first thing they do? Plant various species of plants from the area they just moved from! That's not superior behavior, that's stupid.
Humans superior? To what I might ask, rocks possibly but most assuredly not other animals.
Well looks to me loike I'm a nutjob lol. My dog is like my kid. I love spending money on him and having fun with him. He is my best friend. I think animals should have equal rights. Animals that are toilet trained should be alowed in public places like libraries and grocery stores. You should also be abole to drive with your dog in the carpool lane.
Animals have feelings you know.they get happy, sad, depressed, excited, stressed , scared bored,suprised..jus like we do.
FYI animals were here first so a little R.E.S.P.E.C.T would be nice Man has already done enough to harm the poor animals and and environment.

Are People out there trying to stop The dog meat and fur trade and puppy mills?

i was wondering i find it really hard to sleep at night as i hate knowing that somewhere in china or the Philippines or Kora there are dogs and cats being slaughtered eaten skinned burned chocked abused and even made to mate all day (puppy mills) i saw on the Internet really horrible images of theses acts and of abuse of dogs i was wondering are their people who go over to these country's to try and stop these crimes also animals used in laboratories are they still allowed or is it banned i really find it hard not to think about these things i picture their sad little eyes and how terrified they must be its makes me cry i hate knowing that right now a dog is being hurt or killed if find it hard to take , i would just really love to know if their are kind hearted people out there trying to stop theses vile acts on humanity like PETA or the Human society or RSPCA etc
could anyone tell me if there are people and what do they do too help stop it
thanks
Answers:
Actually some of the largest puppy mills are run by the Pennsylvania Dutch... Puppy mills aren't just a foreign thing and neither is using euthanized pets for dog food. Animals which succumb to one of the 4 D's; dead, diseased, dying or disabled and are euthanized often end up in pet foods. Especially those which labels only describe their meat ingredients as being "animal protein."
Also, please don't view PETA as a righteous group. While much of what they do helps animals if they had their way, there would be no domestic animals at all and many of their tactics can be considered "terrorism."
They even kill animals too... Visit this link...
http://www.petakillsanimals.com/...
This stuff isn't a secret or lies, it is court information complied from a trial against PETA and its members...
of course there are people out there trying to stop it. PETA is just an extremer group than the SPCA. they usually protest and sometimes go to extremes to stop these acts
i feel the exact same way.i cant even look at those pictures though because i know that i would never be able to get those images out of my mind..it is so incredibly sad to me
i know it is terrible!! people just need to be educated about these things. also, shark fin soup... have you heard or seen what they do to sharks? its horrible. just educated people about adopting shelter pets, not wearing any type of fur, and support humane animal societies, and Peta. thanks for being a supporter!
Of course! I think real fur coats is now cruel, cuz it was okay for cavemen and all, but not to show off, that is a waste. And then there is make-up testing on animals! it's horrible!
I completely agree with you. I'm not sure exactly what other people are doing, but I know that the organizations that you mentioned try to spread the word about it to stop it. If you haven't already, you can join the online communities of those organizations by going to their websites and signing up. They send out emails informing you of current issues and giving you links where you can sign petitions, send letters to government officials, and take a stand on what you believe. Thanks for caring--I don't understand why more people don't.
I hope these animal welfare groups r doing something about the atrocities done to animals. I donate whatever money I can to several organizations as they r not funded thru the govt. but by private donations. Animal welfare, like The Humane Society of the United States has no authority to ban the slaughter of dogs and cats in foreign countries, at best, they can protest to that countries leaders. Here in the states we can write to our senators and protest the animal abuses that keep occurring, dog fighting, lab testing , inhumane slaughter of food animals, etc. All good deeds done by the ASPCA, Peta, HSUS costs money to operate, so donations and letter writing to our lawmakers r about all one can do. If enough people would get involved to make their voices heard, then and only then will some of these horrors stop.

Are most animals boarded/sick left unattended overnight at vets.?

Answers:
Most times, a vet is either checking on them, so staying there if there is a critical pet.
Animals that are boarding are usually NOT supervised overnight.either at a vet hospital or a boarding kennel. That would cost a heck of a lot more!!
When in doubt as to the care of your pet with a specific problem, ask. You do not have to leave them!! Many times, if you are comfortable with the IV cath and or fluids and other things, they will let them go home to be watched by the owner.
You need to ask if your pet will be supervised or not. This happened to a good friend, and the pet died unattended. Make sure to ask if your pet is really sick. They have to tell you if they staff during the night.
Absolutely.
The only case in which there may be at least a vet tech overnight is in an animal emergency hospital, but for the most part they are indeed left alone at night.
At our clinic the last technicians leave at 10pm and arrive at 5am, so yes... animals are left unattended between 10pm-5am. All animals are hooked up to monitors overnight and our system is set up so our vet (who lives literally 5 minutes form the clinic) will be alerted if an animal goes into trouble. However, if we feel as though the animal needs to be monitored all night we will transport them to our emergency vet for the night for treatment(s) and pick them up again the next day (if we believe that is best).
If you are concerned about your pet being left unattended you can always locate a 24 hour facility, like our emergency services.
Most of the time, yes. They do have people go in and clean up poo, give them water and food, and walk them. Then they leave them all locked up and un-attended

Are lilies poisinous to cats and which bits?

Answers:
its the pollen within the flower that is poisonous, cats seem to be more affected at first than dogs but we had a case in the vets where i worked a year ago the cat had rubbed against the Lillie getting pollen on her coat she licked her coat and within minuets she had been paralysed and then died,if you have animals its best not to have Lillie's unless they are out of reach
Typical Toxicity: Toxic effects are limited to cats, and include kidney damage or failure, dullness, loss of appetite, and vomiting. Note that only a small amount of any part of the plant can lead to very serious effects!
Yes, they can cause kidney failure. This can be any part of the plant as far as I know - certainly the petals anyway. They don't have to eat much.
Chalice
Yes so i,ve been told its the middle bits which shed its pollen and it also leaves a nasty stain on table clothes
Yes they are, i have heard that its the yellow middle bit, but as a precaution i never have lillies.

Are Labs good dogs?

What about German Shepherds?
Answers:
i have 3 labs they are the sweetiest dogs and r really fun they r good swimmers and very fast runners also they r loyal and at times can b running around but then lay down right next 2 u and just lay their heads on ur lap and then u may even fall elsleep labs r much better take if from some1 who has 7 dogs and 3 of them r labs
German Shephards are much better, more loyal, protection, etc.
labs shed too much
id go with a malamua they look practically the same as a german shepherd but are more gentle and have better training ability
I myself have a GSD. she is a wonderful dog. The best dog i have ever had. She swims and rns every morning. Great personality. I strongly recomend them as pets
I'm not a dog lover but, it takes a good dog owner for any dog to be a good dog. for example:pit boles and rottweilers aren't good dogs but, they can be really friendly and good if you train them very well. that's what i think about dogs any ways.
Never had a german shepherd but i love labs they are soooo loyal, and very well mannered and mind well. They are my fav.
YES! I owned a black lab. They are so friendly. They are also full of love and happiness. They also are easy going and usually relaxed except for when the hear the word "walk"! LOL
i must say labs are better because they are loyal, caring, playful, and protective...the perfect dog
i don't know about german.but labs r good dogs n easy to trained.i got one.
yes labs are good dogs give them a treat every five days if there good German shepherds too do the same name them a good name
Yes, they are good dogs. But I have 2 German sheperds , and I just dont think that you'd find the same amount of love and loyalty with a Lab. My German sheperds love to be with me , and protect me , and they are really smart animals. So I would think that you'd be better off with German Shepherds.
Labs are very intelligent!
Yes...both of them! If you go to your local animal shelter, you should find a very good dog, just for you! =) Both breeds are loyal, easy to train, obedient, and good guard dogs for your house!
www.petfinder.com
our family has always had a lab, they are great with children and real members of the family. everyone who met ours loved her. ours had good guarding instincts...(not the stereotypical lick to death lab.)We had no trouble with her weight (she had a good diet though) She was brilliant with other dogs and animals too. (we live on a farm and my friends German shepherd was pretty badly behaved around other creatures). I myself have never owned a shepherd and so cant speculate, i know many happy owners but i am really a lab girl myself!
omg yes! they are sooo friendly nd luv 2 play with yu. i suggest getting one! they luv children... they play non aggresive. GET THE LAB!! :] I GOT MINE WEN IT WAZ VERY YOUNGE! THEY START OUT 2 BE ABOUT 10INCHES THEN THEY GET BIGGER... I LOVE THEM! TEND 2 RUN ALOT OUTSIDE BUH IF YU HAV A LEASH YU MIGHT WANT 2 PUT IT ON BUH THATS MINE! =] HOPE YU GET ONE!
I have a male GSD that i adore. They do shed a lot,but are very sweet.A GSD requires a lot of attention though. They are very active dogs.I would not recommend owning one if you cant devote a certain amount of time for training, walking, etc.Labradors are also very friendly dogs. They shed less and do not require as much exercise as GSD.I would suggest reading up on personality traits of various breeds and talk to your vet about which breed would best fit your lifestyle.
Love my lab to death - he's such a goofball. Laying on the floor in front of me right now happily sleeping with his paws up in the air.
Had a German Shepard when I was younger - he was a great dog as well, but my lab tends to need less stimulation to be happy. So - depends on how much time to you have to focus just on the dog but neither one is a bad choice if you are ready to have a dog in your life.
Good luck.
Labs and german shepards are both gr8 dogs. I have 5 labs and my pap has a german shepard. Labs are VERY playful so if u can handle their constant need 4 love and attention, then u should definately get a lab. 1 of my labs is VERY jumpy and as soon as I walk in the door she jumps all over me but i no that she's only doing it cause she mised me when i was gone. If u want a dog that will protect u, then get a german shepard. They will defend u against nething. Good luck!
Labradors and German Shepherds are BOTH good dogs, and it doesn't matter by breed. They're all loyal and people-oriented!
Labradors- They are loving, affectionate, lovable, and patient dogs. They're also highly intelligent, loyal, willing, and high spirited. As they are lively and good-natured, they love to play with people, especially in water, for they love to swim! They have an excellent, reliable, temperment and are friendly and superb with children, and all ages. They crave human attention and are social dogs, just like German Shepherds are! Honestly, I think Labradors have an enthusiastic attitude toward life, have a short %26 easy-care coat in your choice of three colors, have a cheerful %26 tail-wagging nature, are dependable with everyone, and are peaceful with other animals.
German Shepherds- A member of the herding group, the German Shepherd is fearless, bold, hard working, and alert. They are esteemed for their loyalty, deep devotion, and courage. This breed thrives on human interaction from their family and does not like to be left alone for extended periods of time. German Shepherds are exceptionally wary of strangers. They will most generally get along with other household pets they have been raised with. This breed will attempt to perform the task of herding on anything and everything that moves. The German Shepherd is not recommended for the novice, apathetic, or sedentary owner. German Shepherds make an excellent companion, for children, teenagers, and adults. The breed is known and favored in many countries for its intelligence, trainability, adaptability and fortitude.

Are horses, pony's?

i am feeding carotts to a mare and her foul across the road from me, i adore them, they are not mine, anyway, wondering are horses friendly animals when i am finished giving them the carotts the mare just F...s off with her self doesn't want to know me, now the foul stays alright, just wondering any answers please.
Answers:
Horses and ponies are kind and thoughtful, as long as they are treated with respect. They enjoy TLC (tender loving care) and nibbits to eat - especially carrots. My reason for this, is that the mare and foal might not know you well - therefore they cannot trust you. Maybe the mare is protecting her foal, or the foal is just plain curious. At the end of the day, the foal's mum, can tell the foal what to do, and what not to do.
So, go and see this mare and foal if you love them so much, and talk to them reassuringly, and take some nibbits - you can give them carrots, naglets, polo mints, apples and many more things!!
Enjoy!!
no
i dont understand
Horses are great Companions. Mares thend to be moody. While Foals are still curious and want to learn.
her foal you mean... foul is meaning something bad. they are friendly animals if they are socialized and know people. you need to ask the owners about giving them treats because she could be on a restricted diet you should never feed other people animals with out asking first. what is the question are they horses or ponys or are you just telling people about them. they are pretty friendly if they let you feed them over the fence but i suggest you dont go into the pasture and mess with them especially the baby cause mom might be protective and horses and be dangerous if you dont know what you doing around them.
ADDTION: chill out sheesh im not accusing you of anything you posted a very odd question so i was giving you information, Ididnt say you were stupid and was very curtious in my answer to your cryptic question. you didnt say if you had permission from the owners and i dont know you from adam so i was giving out suggestions... dont get your panties all bunched up... if i didnt say something some one else reading these might think its all good and dandy to walk up to strange horses and feed them foods they might not need to eat!
horses and ponies are the same breed. a horse is 14.3+ hands (a measurement) tall. A pony is 14.2 and less hands tall. Carotts are a treat for them and the mare, probably older and more experienced comes and eats them, then doesn't care. The foal probably being younger (foal- baby horse) is more curious about you so he stays and wants more.
Horses and ponies are very friendly animals. However they can be very shy. Foals are a bit more curious ...
I would advise not to feed them with high energy food stuff such as carrot, apple or bread. They can develop a dreadful disease called laminitis if overfed.
Horses and ponies are both generally friendly and curious. However, those that have bad experiences or were treated poorly may find it hard to trust people. This is probably why the mare wanders off after getting her treat. Try not to take it personally. Foals are new to the world and haven't had bad experiences yet which why he stays. Horses and ponies are not the same breed, they are the same species.
please don't swear. and yes horses are ponies.
